GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Ensure Silver Key’s mission, goals and plans established by its Board of Directors are developed and implemented in the daily operations of transportation drivers and vehicles, ensuring all scheduled clients are picked up, and delivered according to agency guidelines. The role of the Director of Transportation is to direct, coordinate, and ensure a safe transportation program administered through Silver Key and in the community. The Director provides guidance, training, and technical assistance to program staff, volunteers, and clients of Silver Key Senior Services. Provide recommendations for new programs, monitor improvement, implementation, and ongoing processes. Ensure Silver Key meets all contractual requirements and handling safety protocols. The Director is the organization’s designated transportation representative to ensure that all transportation risks are mitigated according to local, state and federal requirements. Completes staff evaluations in the transportation area. Develops an effective succession plan for day to day operations when not on site. Meets all qualitative and quantitative measures of performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supervision to both staff and volunteers for efficient and effective program management for all aspects of the Transportation Department, ensuring programs meet contractual requirements, as well as regulations and standards under which each individual program is governed
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance inventory and equipment duties
  • Monitor transportation activities to ensure compliance with guidelines and safety practices
  • Maintain relationships with community partners
  • Report and analyze data as required, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Collaborate with the Driver Supervisor to develop FTA and state compliant training programs
  • Address client complaints, challenges, and conduct surveys
  • Build rapport with volunteers
  • Provide effective customer service to clients and volunteers through various means of communication; in phone, person, etc.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and procedures to ensure all personnel is handling vehicles properly
  • Address client complaints, challenges, and conduct surveys
  • Ensures alignment to budget and staffing requirements; managing the capacity of the department to acceptable standards
  • Develop processes, forms, and records for program documentation
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the transportation department
  • Monitor data input for accuracy of client and trip information
  • Work with Human Resources and senior leadership to facilitate effective staff selection, education and training
  • Manages safety training to educate staff and volunteers about transportation safety policies, laws, and practices
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and procedures to ensure all personnel is handling vehicles properly
  • Manage the departmental and organizational resources: financial, human and facilities
  • Ensures alignment to budget and staffing requirements
  • Support weekend and evening events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position requires supervision of staff and volunteers for assigned transportation programs and coordination of contracts and seniors.

DRIVING DUTIES

Will occasionally be required to drive on behalf of Silver Key Senior Services. Must maintain a current, valid Colorado Driver’s License. Must maintain the state issued minimum automotive liability insurance coverage. Must observe and obey all federal, state, and local traffic laws. Responsible for the proper function and maintenance of any Silver Key vehicles used in performing assigned duties.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in social services or related area; or five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • More than two years transportation and supervisory experience required in business or social services preferred.
  • At least two years of previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as various platforms such as mobile, laptop, desktop, and tablets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills required. Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • At least two years of previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as various platforms such as mobile, laptop, desktop, and tablets.

DESIRABLE, PREFERRED, OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills required. Ability to function in a fast moving and constantly changing environment. Ability to address issues with staff, volunteers, and clients in a professional and controlled manner. Basic technology and computer skills in MSOffice. Strong interpersonal skills to work with all roles within the organization and pertinent community partners. Demonstrate responsiveness and sensitivity to cultural differences. High level of integrity and dependability with strong sense of urgency. Results oriented. Problem solving and creative skills and ability to exercise sound judgment. Ability to communicate with all levels of staff in the organization. Preferred software experience in Routematch, EmpowOr, COTRAMS, and Peer Place.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, statistical and mathematical abilities and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write complex reports and distill information for many audiences. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing, walking and sitting for periods of time. Utilization of hands and fingers to operate office computer keyboard and equipment required. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear and stoop, kneel or crouch if needed. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.

Salary Range $58,000-$70,000 annually
