Agilex Fragrances, a Company of the Firmenich Group, is a leading provider of custom fragrance compounds and delivery systems serving mid-sized customers. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Director to drive fragrance sales growth.

Reporting to the Head of Sales this position will be located in Piscataway, NJ. The Account Manager will be a key member of the client team and will have broad exposure and interaction with customers as well as all internal departments. This position will be responsible for the growth of assigned accounts, managing business opportunities (projects) follow-up and anticipating client needs, ensure that the internal support team is focused on the right opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities and Functions:

  • In collaboration with the Executive Committee, develop and execute a sales and business development strategy to drive profitable growth and expand the market share of Agilex.
  • Promote competitive advantages, leverage core competencies and organizational resources, and introduce new concepts to strengthen customer relationships
  • Lead the development and implement key account strategies that will enable the maintenance and growth of the business in target markets and ensure that the sales team is focused on the right opportunities.
  • Develop annual sales budget and report actual results against budget on monthly and quarterly basis. Identify all customer and territory variances against budget and take appropriate actions to address.
  • Ensures communications are coordinated with sales, marketing and creative teams to support sales plan objectives.
  • Bring an industry focus and the ability to strategically define niches, growth opportunities and market share potential that will broaden the business focus and lead to enhanced sales and margins.
  • Lead assessment of customers and the development of action plans that optimize relationships and produce business in new areas.
  • Reestablish customer relationships that may have lapsed and will bring value to the company.
  • Meet with key clients, assisting the sales team with establishing and maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  • Utilize effective leadership and management skills to motivate team members to achieve desired results. Accomplish this by providing clear direction, continuous coaching and mentoring to elevate the quality of the team.
  • Ensure talent development initiatives are in place that provide opportunity to team members to learn and grow their career.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance regularly to review and analyze current sales compensation plan and make recommendations to ensure alignment with overall company financial objectives
  • Continuously monitor the performance direct reports performance, set appropriate objectives and ensure clear communication on expectations.
  • Support the sales forecast process with Finance on as needed basis.
  • Manage and monitor sales team operating expenses to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Share knowledge and insights across all areas when required in order to elevate the know how in the company
  • Collaborate with colleagues, to help build an increased fragrance culture in the company

Required Skills/Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.A/B.S. Business, Marketing or related field preferred
  • Ten (10) plus years of fragrance or related Industry experience at senior level.
  • Demonstrated industry knowledge and experience, to quickly establish credibility with clients and within the organization
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in the design and execution of business plans and strategies; be able to create a strategic vision and ensure tactical execution to drive profitable growth.
  • Strong leader with high energy and a passion for the business and ability to drive major initiatives from creation to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work with diverse clients and team members at all levels
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership skills and ability to effectively develop team members.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem analysis and resolution at both strategic and functional levels
  • Track record of success in growing a business, providing business to business value added products (preferably fragrance)
  • Thorough understanding of market segments
  • High level computer proficiency, Microsoft office, ERP system
