We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to add value to many areas of the company and assist in growing our manufacturing capabilities for in-house products. This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, and offers involvement in many core processes across our entire shop floor. This position is based out of Portland, Maine. Day-to day responsibilities are dynamic, but core responsibilities include:
- Setup, operation and maintenance of laser etching machines
- Digital file mockups for custom jobs: engraving and cutting
- Setup and operation of CO2 wood laser cutters
- Programming and file setup for both 1kW and 4kW fiber laser cutters (metalworking)
- Solid modeling and drawings using Solidworks (as needed)
- Participation in product development, development discussions and prototyping
- Digital file setups for vinyl printer and laser etching machines for Zootility products
- Setup, operation and maintenance of industrial vinyl printer
- Inspecting completed products for Quality Assurance
- Routine maintenance for both milling and laser systems
- Setup and operation of Fanuc 3-axis vertical mill
- De-burring, blending of machined and laser cut pieces
- Setup, operation and maintenance on vibratory tumbling systems
- Participation in job setup discussions, post-job reviews, and continuous improvement efforts
- Maintain cleanliness and safety on the production floor
- Place an emphasis on safety, efficiency, quality and productivity
- Follow all policies and procedures
- Assisting both the metalworking and woodworking teams with general production duties as needed
- Perform other related work as required
Knowledge and Skills
- Possesses knowledge of the structure and function of a production work environment
- Ability to analyze technical drawings and determine job requirements
- Demonstrate analytical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to effectively prototype products and operate manufacturing equipment
- Pay close attention to detail
- Exhibit ability to work cautiously but efficiently in potentially hazardous conditions
- Familiarity with all factory safety procedures and guidelines
- Work efficiently and manage time effectively
- Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
- Possess physical strength and stamina required to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lbs. for long periods of time
Relevant Experience:
- A technical AS or BS degree, or a machining Certificate program related to manufacturing or engineering and design, with CNC machining experience.
- 3-5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Prior experience running production on a CNC mill strongly preferred.
- Experience with any/all of the following software packages preferred: Solidworks, AutoCAD, RADAN, Adobe Illustrator.
- Strong familiarity with basic measuring equipment and GD&T, as well as blueprint reading/interpretation skills.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices.
- Familiarity with general manufacturing safety procedures.
This position will require the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Safety gear, such as goggles, and gloves, should be worn on a regular basis. Working with machinery is required.
