DESCRIPTION

Under supervision of the Measurement-Based Care/Quality Committee, the Psychiatry Research Analyst supports clinical research and data collection and analysis efforts related to measurement based care in behavioral health within the Department of Psychiatry. The primary duty will be to extract psychiatry data from UCSD Health patient populations in EPIC from EHR to support clinical and research decision making and the shift towards value-based care in the Department of Psychiatry. The incumbent will act as a liaison and subject matter expert to ambulatory and research leadership at-large and will help standardize data measurement, collection at reporting for a key set of outcomes metrics (including, but not limited to PHQ-9, GAD-7, Functional Quality of Life, etc.) for the clinical, academic, and research mission in the Department. The incumbent will support the psychiatric providers and other staff, and frequently collaborates and interacts with Clinical Medical Directors, the Director of Psychiatry Ambulatory Quality, Psychiatry management leadership, and the Chief of Psychiatry.
Duties also include maintenance of accurate and complete clinical research files; update study databases and ensure compliance with standardized protocol. The incumbent will also perform other duties as needed including assisting with annual IRB and NIH reporting, directly communicating with assigned physicians and administrative groups, providing and Project Management within the measurement-based care committee in reviewing progress on standardizing MBC across the Department. Other duties may also include: grant writing and IRB submission support; recruitment and retention of research subjects; coordinating subject appointments with facilities and staff; neurophysiology experimental assistance; and data collection. Responsibilities could include administering diagnostic interviews; acquiring confidential and sensitive information including medical/mental health history. Assist with other project and miscellaneous duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.
Working knowledge of research function.
Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures.
Working skills in analysis and consultation.
Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated experience with statistical software skills and familiarity with EPIC and EHR database reporting. Demonstrated knowledge of database, word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Velos, Access, Excel and MS Word.
Demonstrated exposure to behavioral health medical assessment screeners such as PHQ-9, GAD-7, Functional Quality of Life measurement, etc.
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse groups, including professional and non-professional staff and clients
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Proven ability to work independently.
Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to work in a changing, multiple-demand setting in order to prioritize a large volume of work and meet deadlines efficiently and accurately
Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills, analytical skills and long-range planning skills with meticulous attention to detail and proven ability to identify future contingencies.
Demonstrated experience working with Psychiatric populations.
Demonstrated experience with Project Management.
Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplined, fast-paced clinics with trainees. Possesses the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
Demonstrated experience standardizing data measurement, collection at reporting for a key set of outcomes metrics (including, but not limited to PHQ-9, GAD-7, Functional Quality of Life, etc.)
Demonstrated experience extracting psychiatry data from UCSD Health patient populations in EPIC from EHR to support clinical and research decision making and the shift towards value-based care.
Proven ability to support the recruitment and retention of research subjects, coordinate subject appointments with facilities and staff, and provide neurophysiology experimental assistance.
Proven ability to recommend changes in operational data collection at the individual and clinic level based on trends and outliers in reporting and recommendations for the implementation of standard questionnaires and screeners (PHQ-9, GAD-7, etc.).
Proven ability to use statistical tools to identify, analyze, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets.
Demonstrated experience assisting with grant writing and IRB and NIH reporting.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 – $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 – $53.45
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
