Full Job Description
Job Purpose:
Helps to facilitate work for electricians and other skilled co-workers to complete projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Duties:
· Organize material
· Hold or supply tools or materials to electricians
· Clean work areas and equipment
· Assist electricians pulling wire and running conduit through walls, ceilings, in-ground and slab
- Dig trenches and pole foundation holes using shovels, picks mechanical equipment
- Assist with clean-up projects
- Install ground rods by driving them in with a sledge hammer manually or electric ground rod driver
- Load, unload and operate tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (jackhammers, tampers, etc.)
- Build on basic principles of electrical work and installation processes and move to more advanced techniques
- Work directed by immediate supervisor
- Install EMT conduit as directed by supervisor
- Install / wire lights and receptacles as directed by supervisor
- All other duties to complete assigned projects
- Begin to identify electrical symbols and to read electrical drawings
- Understand and be competent in reading electrical meters
- Be able to thread Rigid conduit measure ¾” – 2”
- Maintain personal hand tools, including but not limited to drill(s) and Sawzall
- Obtain and maintain certification for Cadweld, Fire Caulking, Lifts and others as necessary for the needs of the company
- Begin to learn to troubleshoot simple electrical issues

- Install electrical systems from slab to finish with supervision
- Be able to properly layout block walls from drawings
- May oversee 4 – 8 workers at the request of the Job Superintendent
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems
- Be able to read electrical and architectural drawings
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, adjustments or repair
- Ensure work is in compliance with electrical and safety codes
- Must be able to install EMT and pipe it to electrical panels
- Use a variety of tools and equipment such as construction equipment, power tools, and testing equipment
- Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit
· Clean work areas and equipment · Pull wires and run conduit through walls, ceilings, in-ground and slab at the direction of a supervisor
- Dig trenches and pole foundation holes three to eight feet deep using shovels and picks, and/or operates auger truck.
- Continue to build on advanced electrical principles and begin to study for the GA Unrestricted State Electrical License
- Install / wire light fixtures and receptacles
- Install ground rods by driving them in with a manual or electric post driver
- Obtain and maintain certification for Cadweld, Fire Caulking, Lifts and others as necessary for the needs of the company
- Install ground rods by driving them in with a sledge hammer manually or electric ground rod driver
- Load, unload and operate shop tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds (jackhammers, compaction tampers, etc.)
- Work directed by immediate supervisor
- Be able to thread ¾” – 4” Rigid conduit
- Be able to trouble shoot advanced electrical issues
- Terminate panels, transformers and/or mechanical equipment and lighting panels and contactors
- Be able to pull lighting control and circuitry wiring as per drawing
- Be able to install lighting control powerpacks
- Be able to complete panel schedules
- Be able to receive and verify material from material order
- Be able to recognize if the project is ready for an inspection
- Be able to operate and maintain certifications for heavy equipment
- Maintain personal hand tools, including but not limited to drill(s) and Sawzall
Skills/Qualifications:
· Must have good manual dexterity
· Must have hand/eye coordination

Must possess a good sense of balance and be physically fit enough to work in tight spaces, on ladders and the like. The employee, while performing this job, will be exposed to prevailing weather conditions at the time. The noise level is intermittent and may require the the use of personal protective equipment. The employee is expected to follow all company policies regarding the use of personal protective equipment.
