The Electronic Hardware team is responsible for designing and developing state of the art analog and digital based controls for making the power grid smarter and more reliable.
The Role Looking for a Component Engineer to join our Electronic Hardware Engineering team. You will be supporting multiple projects with electronic components related activities such as approving second source suppliers and interfacing with suppliers for failure analysis and corrective action. Also, you will be working closely with the Quality and operations teams supporting any component related activity during manufacturing. The next generation of S&C products offer a lot of opportunities for creating cost effective and efficient designs that help set our products apart in the market, including the design and qualification of custom components. Requirements:
- Provide technical guidance regarding the selection of components to S&C’s Businesses, Quality, Sourcing and Purchasing
- Investigate alternate components to improve quality & reliability, reduce cost and/or to maintain operational efficiency
- Evaluate supplier changes
- Develop and maintain a component data base
- Familiar with a broad spectrum of electronic components
- Create, maintain, and communicate technology roadmaps to stakeholders
- Assists in root cause failure analysis
- Assist engineering staff with selection of new components
- Acquire or develop appropriate simulation models for use with PSpice Analog-Digital simulations tools
- Perform component testing to verify and or characterize component performance over a wide range of operating conditions
- Function as a primary liaison with our component suppliers
- Work with Procurement and engineering staff to proactively recommend alternative replacement for end-of-life components
Leadership
- Serves as Team Member on selected projects and cross-functional teams
- Serve as active Team Member on Supplier Management Reviews to promote continuous improvements in quality, delivery and value. May also participate in on-site technical surveys.
Interpersonal
- Interfaces with customers to provide component expertise on complex matters to improve process and product quality, as well as decrease costs.
- Internal customers include design/development engineers, Quality Staff, and Procurement Staff
- External customers include suppliers, as well as end-users of S&C products.
- Must possess ability to articulate detailed technical information, both written and orally, to the customer.
- Draw upon knowledge (formal training and experience) and communication skills to influence others and/or to facilitate resolution of component problems.
Business
- Partner with customers and coordinates efforts to resolve problems in a creative and effective way
- Ensures thorough familiarity with company policies and procedures. Appropriately apply policies and procedures in compliance with government regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirements:
- B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with electronic components
- 5+ years’ experience with electronic components

- Walking Occasional walking of moderate distances within the S&C complex.
