Position Title: Engineering Manager (with PE)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Regional Executive Director
Position Overview
Reserve Advisors is experiencing rapid growth in our Southeast market and we are looking to add an Engineer Manager to our Charlotte office to assist us with that growth! Reserve Advisors is the leader in the reserve study industry and has been around for over 30 years now. The company is headquartered in Milwaukee, WI, with locations in almost 20 different cities in the US. This role requires a strong people manager who isn’t afraid to dive into a new and changing industry, learning the skills and focusing on what makes us great – our people.
The Engineering Manager (with PE) oversees the engineers that support the SE region. The Engineering Manager is accountable for ensuring their team of engineers have the tools, training and support needed to meet revenue goals, create customized studies and successfully manage contracts while setting Reserve Advisors apart from its competition.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Management Responsibility:
- Team Production : Accountable for regional engineering team of direct reports to meet regional team production goals
- Monitor Engineer’s current status and annual growth of production and improvement of inspect-to-ship, providing development when needed
- Conduct one-on-one meetings and consistent communication with engineers to establish workflow, client pain points, and areas of improvement. Allocate time for team engagement and may travel to participate in company events and team engagement
- Create engagement and cohesion within the team
- Act as the technical resource for engineering team
- Team Production : Accountable for regional engineering team of direct reports to meet regional team production goals
- Team Contract Management : Partner with other engineering and regional leaders to delegate job duties amongst team
- Coordinate lending of labor between regions and balancing of regional backlogs
- Communicate with respective Regional Director and Account Manager regarding client relationships, time estimating, and business development opportunities
- Monitor and manage Engineer’s assignments for skill sets, travel coordination, and current workflow status
- Training and Quality Assurance : Ensure quality of the reports and act as a technical resource for the region
- Partner with mentors and VP of Engineering to assist with the training of Associate Engineers
- Guide engineering team through career development discussions and create knowledge share opportunities for the team
- Advocate internally for Engineers and provide guidance to assist with client interaction
- Review shipment copy of Engineer’s reports. Ensure report consistency, verify team review suggested edits are completed, high-level review for key study components
- Monitor level of report customization and client feedback for team
Production Responsibilities:
- Conduct Reserve Studies and other services on all types of properties
- Engage in continuous learning to understand individual client’s needs, current construction methods and advancements and cognizant of market changes
Other Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other internal departments as necessary
- Project assignments as necessary and directed by leadership, involvement and ownership of strategic initiatives and a key contributor to company culture
Qualifications:
- Professional Engineering (PE) active license required
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited school required
- 2+ year experience managing a team of engineers or similar employees
- Exceptional leadership, organization and time management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
Working Conditions
Frequent overnight and out of town travel possible with working days being spent outside. Extended hours possible. While working in the office, standard office environment with frequent computer use.
