Position Summary
As an IT intern, you will provide a variety of Information Technology (IT) services essential to the effective performance of Red River Science & Technology. The work involves the planning and delivery of technical support services, including troubleshooting, installation, removals, and systems knowledge.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Install PC hardware and software for end users.
- Troubleshoot network, software, and hardware issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance and upgrades on servers.
- Perform ongoing research of IT related topics.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned or requested by management.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking including knowledge of protocols, ports, services, subnetting, and VLANs.
- Ability to employ a customer service approach and to present technical information with clarity to non-technical users.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows Server 2019.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability.
- Must be adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to follow instructions and company policy.
- Ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
- Must be able to work both as part of a team and independently.
- Experience in web design/updating and maintaining websites.
- Experience with Office 365 functions.
- Active Directory experience preferred.
- Linux experience preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands
- Required to walk, stand, sit and move about the property for long periods of time. Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
- In final year of Computer Science, Computer Information Systems degree program or related field degree program, or a minimum of 3 years of related work experience; prefer a BS in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or related field.
- Minimum of 3.0 cumulative GPA in major, if no relevant and recent work experience.
