As Automation Project Engineer, you are on the cutting edge of technology in the design of robotic and automation projects. Plastipak is a trailblazer in the rigid plastic manufacturing industry, and you are blending your knowledge of robotics, AGV/AMR, mechatronics, engineering, CAD and electrical controls to continue the innovation journey.

You Will

  • Evaluate existing and planned operations, and production systems, for opportunities to apply innovative AGV/AMR, robotics and automation systems to improve output, reliability, reduce direct labor and other cost associated with current processes within a specified payback period.
  • Work with equipment and systems providers to develop solutions and proposals. Obtain quotations that meet project requirements, reliability and performance expectations, and deliver economic value.
  • Serve as Project Manager for automation application projects to deliver on-time, on-budget projects with specified ROI and performance objectives.
  • Collaborate, communicate and work closely with production facilities, corporate management, engineering, operations, and purchasing functions throughout all project phases.
  • Manage the specification, purchasing, installation, startup, debug, and validation of new AGV/AMR, robotic and automation systems.
  • Work with and manage equipment and systems providers to insure any and all corrective actions, operational and performance issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide ongoing engineering, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting support of AGV/AMR, robotic and automation production systems.

You Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design, specifying, purchase, installation and startup of robotic/mechatronic automation systems and AGV/AMR with supporting material handling equipment
  • Experience in PLC, especially Allen Bradley, and Robot programming
  • Experience in electrical controls design and panel building (preferred)
  • Experience using SAP (preferred)
