About the Role:
As a technical leader of the Software Engineering department, the Principal Software Engineer is a Software Developer who has strong professional expertise and experience using the technologies in Pathward’s technical stack. The Principal Software Engineer will lead and work as part of a team. The Principal Software Engineer will be required to perform all duties of software development including design, development, testing, and documentation with a heavy emphasis on design and architecture decisions.
What You Will Do:
- Develops flexible, maintainable solutions using the guidelines of requirements and standard practices with efficiency and innovation.
- Solves complex development problems through the use of good design and practical experience.
- Helps teammates solve complex development problems by sharing their experience and expertise.
- Reviews, modifies, enhances, and maintains existing systems by fixing issues, remediating security vulnerabilities, and improving system performance.
- Identifies new technical projects and opportunities for the improvement of existing systems and other potential business solutions.
- Leads and participates in planning and user story analysis by providing feedback and demonstrating an understanding of user requirements.
- Drives and leads the design of software while using best practices and standards.
- Solves business problems by implementing technical solutions based on solid design principles and best practices.
- Drives improvements and changes in and follows software development processes and procedures.
- Identifies and contributes to opportunities for departmental improvements through Knowledge Center participation and other process reviews.
- Documents software changes, best practices, and standards.
- Mentors staff by assisting in answering questions, providing technical advice and issue resolution.
- Contributes as a subject matter expert (SME) in either technical or business areas.
- Keeps up to date with current and future changes in tools, technology, programming best practices, and industry standards through training and development opportunities.
- Identifies and leads learning and training opportunities for other team members and staff.
- Emphasizes continuous learning and development to ensure you are providing up to date and informed technical solutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need:
- Technical degree from a university, college or trade school; or related equivalent of education, experience and/or training.
- Eight or more years of experience working in a professional technical environment required.
- Deep experience in cloud development required.
- Familiarity with lending and leasing applications such as Finastra, Odessa, and FactorSoft a plus.
