Senior Finance Manager – Commercial Finance

The Senior Commercial Finance Manager is a highly visible, strategic leader that improves company performance by optimizing our promotional spend while leading strategic decisions around production rationalization, innovation profitability, and strategic planning. The Commercial Finance Manager leads the Commercial Finance group which includes both Sales Finance and Brand Finance. Commercial Finance strategically partners with Sales, Marketing, and Executive leadership, continually improving top-line revenue while focusing on profitability by using timely analytics, preparing, and evaluating monthly and quarterly business reviews, including brand and customer level profitability, trade spending, variance analysis, financial analysis, financial modeling, deductions management, brokerage, and other non-trade selling and marketing expenses. The Commercial Finance team own all financial accounts between gross and net revenue, and Selling and Marketing spends, striving continuously to optimize profitability while utilizing strong analytical skills to bring exposure and awareness to Leadership.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and mentor the Commercial Finance team, executing the strategic initiatives guided by Oberto’s leadership.
- Provide financial support for development of new product P&Ls in a cross-functional environment.
- Collaborate on company-wide initiatives such as business simplification, profit optimization, and strategic expansion.
- Own annual strategic planning process, including development of analysis designed to support long-term decisions on company vision.
- Lead the development and analytics of our pricing strategies, weight-out strategies, and proactively reacting to commodity volatility.
- Key business partner to our Marketing and Sales departments in the management of Oberto’s total marketing and promotional trade spend.
- Owner of all analytics, recommendations, and visibility for all financial accounts between gross and net revenue.
- Manage the development of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, monitoring and evaluating actual results to ensure fiscal accountability.
- Analyzes financial results versus forecast, plan, and prior year, and investigate variances, assessing risk and providing leadership with latest estimates; delivers meaningful business insights through the presentation of financial results to executive leadership team and sales team.
- Develops new sales and trade spendingstrategy and reporting, providing visibility to volume and spending, analyze weekly and monthly trade results at sales channel, customer, and item level.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to analyze our financial results with emphasis on improving profitability at the channel, brand, and item level.
- Analyze monthly profitability margins, evaluating item and business unit performance for use in driving profitable decision making.
- Strive for continuous improvement and automation of our financial reporting packages and tools.
- Establish and maintain adequate internal controls to ensure marketing and selling expenses remain in compliance with policy and controls.
- Partner with sales team to oversee all processes within Trade Promotion Management life cycle, developing and implementing necessary controls to ensure trade funds are being used efficiently to promote profitable growth and brand awareness.
- Be an integral member in the ongoing development of our finance-owned Enterprise Performance Management/BI system and trade management system.
- Documents policies, procedures, and educates employees.
- Lead and facilitate process improvements including implementation of best practices and standardization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or similar field required. MBA preferred
- 7+ years’ experience in high-paced planning and analysis or sales finance environment.
- Trade finance experience within a consumer-packaged goods (CPG) organization highly desired.
- Trade Management System (MEI/AFS/TradePro) experience preferred.
- Experience with an Enterprise Performance Management, ERP and/or Business Intelligence system a plus.
- Excellent customer service with high degree of professionalism.
- Detail oriented with very strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Self starter, able to work in a demanding, high stress environment balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships and lead team meetings and projects.
- Ability to pick up new information systems and work between many IT systems easily to manage information including AFS, QAD, BOARD, SharePoint, BI, TradePro, PowerQuery, PowerBI, etc.
- Computer knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office; Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong communication skills and ability to speak, read and write in English.
