Location: Company HQ is in Los Angeles, but this position may be based remotely, with 10% – 15% travel once in person meetings resume.
Position Description:
Nicks USA has an exciting opportunity open to join the Operations team as a Transportation Manager. This position will report into the VP, Supply Chain, and will be responsible to manage all domestic and international freight. This will include carrier selection and negotiation for both our Retail and Ecom businesses. This person must be an innate leader and be able to work independently. It will be a priority to find creative ways to drive our freight cost per unit down while maintaining our high quality.
Roles and responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Schedule and monitor all outbound freight (dispatching, routing and tracking)
- Choose and install a Transportation Management System.
- Select and maintain our transportation suppliers based on high quality at the best cost – maintain routing guide
- Drive lower costs on our international freight – find a low-cost freight forwarder, as well as oversee inbound freight
- Find high quality and lower cost providers for our DTC/Ecom business
- Analyze freight being charged from our ingredient suppliers and identify more creative, cost-effective methods of receiving freight
- Understand what is happening in the industry with freight and inform Nick’s management with future trends (inflationary & capacity).
- Create a transportation KPI scorecard identifying underlying issues with resolution recommendations
- Monitor late charges from customers, including Walmart, and refute where required
- Create and maintain a detailed transportation tracker of all transportation costs by lane – be able to walk and talk all the numbers
- Work with warehouses to manage smooth, on-time loading
Experience and Qualifications:
- Broad relationships with frozen and Ecom transportation providers is a must.
- Experience with backhaul, co-logistics, and other creative cost reduction methods
- Strong leadership and the ability to work autonomously
- Be able to create strong relationships externally and internally
- Advanced excel skills is a must
- Problem solving skills
- Experience choosing and installing transportation systems
- BS in Supply Chain, Logistics or Business
- Ability to communicate and express ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
