We need craftsmen, the Jack-of-all-trades kind of person who can run a shovel and maybe a backhoe, or at least learn the backhoe part. Someone who knows the importance of measuring twice and cutting once, a person who can build quickly with quality and safety. Indeed, safety and quality are big around here.

Our main product is traffic signals and luminaires (a.k.a. big streetlights, usually steel). We also work on airport runway lights, permanent highway signs, durable pavement markings, and temporary traffic control.

Our mission is to provide the best service at the best price while maintaining a safe working environment. We have been able to accomplish this mission for over 40 years but need quality workers to help keep this going for the decades to come.

We usually run a couple of 5 to 7 person crews during peak construction season. We usually work 12-hour days and have weekends off. For the 3 winter months, we take our 6 or 7 core employees into the shop for winter training and equipment teardown and maintenance, or as we view it, our chance to rebuild and grow ourselves for next season.

We are active members of the Montana Contractors Association and the Associated General Contractors of America. Within our crews, we provide training for crane operators, CDL drivers, traffic control workers, and forklift operators, all with nationally recognized certifications. We are current and invest in the latest technology, both in our equipment and technology/software.

For this job, you will travel most of the construction season all over the state of Montana. You will work on and travel highways and roads all over the state, some very busy and some that only the locals know. And, you will meet many opportunities to learn and apply new skills, and with that, opportunities to move up the ladder in training, responsibility, and pay.

Our longest field employee has been here for over 35 years, starting in the very position advertised here, and is now running one of our crews. The average length of service of our current employees is about 14 years. These are the types of relationships we are looking for.

The job pays Davis Bacon Wages, or more, with time + 1/2 after 40. Pay is hourly and varies, but this similar position paid about $65,000 last year. Payday is weekly and direct deposit is available.
