What you’ll do:
- Design, implement, and manage security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint protection, and encryption mechanisms to ensure the organization’s networks and systems remain secure.
- Conduct regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in systems, networks, and applications.
- Develop and implement incident response plans to effectively address security breaches, incidents, and breaches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Monitor network traffic, system logs, and security alerts to detect and respond to potential security incidents.
- Analyze and investigate anomalies and security breaches, taking appropriate actions to mitigate risks.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, software development, and compliance, to integrate security into all phases of the development lifecycle and ensure a comprehensive approach to cybersecurity.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of security processes, procedures, and configurations. Prepare detailed reports on security findings, incidents, and actions taken.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- At least five years of experience as a Cybersecurity Engineer or similar role and relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, etc.
- Relevant government-specific certifications (e.g., DoD 8570) and proficiency in security frameworks, standards, and best practices (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewall configuration, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Experience with vulnerability assessment tools and penetration testing techniques, along with familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and endpoint security solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex security issues, along with strong communication skills for effective collaboration and security training.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with government-specific ATO assessment tools, vulnerability scanning tools, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Familiarity with government regulatory frameworks, compliance requirements, and security standards specific to ATO (e.g., NIST SP 800-53, FISMA, FedRAMP).
- An active TS//SCI clearance with CI poly preferred or Active TS//SCI clearance with the ability to pass a CI poly.
