Job Summary and Qualifications
* This is a Full Time Night position 7pm – 7am.
The Registered Nurse Nursery will help support family centered maternity care. This RN will assist as a “Delivery Attendant” and then care for the baby from that point forward. They will assist in teaching parents and do many of the newborn screens. They may assist with circumcisions, attend C-Sections and help support moms with breast feeding. Some of the essential functions of the RN position in the Nursery includes:
- Performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act
- Use therapeutic communication in daily practice
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment
- Plan, implement and direct care using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of the individual patient
- Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding healthcare
- Promote an environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture
- Maintain quality, age specific care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent and adult patients as assigned
- Proactively advocate for patients and consistently education patients/families throughout the continuum of care
- Delegate tasks to the appropriate level of staff
- Provide supervision of new employees, vocational nurses, nurse assistants, student nurses, nurse externs/interns
What qualifications you will need:
- Current State of TX RN license or from a compact state
- Current BLS issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required at hire
- NRP required within 90 days of hire/transfer
- STABLE must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Associate Degree required, Bachelors preferred
