Complies and maintains payroll records by performing the following duties. Essential Duties: Compile payroll data such as hours worked, sales volume, bonuses and commissions, monies to be withheld for taxes, employee contributions to insurance and retirement plans, etc., from time sheets and other records. Update master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, etc., and data concerning compensation increases, promotions, and/or transfer of employees between departments. Compute wages and deductions, reviews for accuracy, and posts to payroll records. Prepares and issues paychecks. Keeps record of leave pay and nontaxable wages. Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions. Maintains garnishment files and remits payments. Prepares/files all hiring and termination paperwork including COBRA letters. Maintains records for vacation and sick-day eligibility. Processes all employee insurance forms and insurance payments. Answers verification of employment inquiries by phone and mail. Reconciles employee account receivables. Maintain all cash spiffs, balance bags and provide monies to department for spiffs. Cross-trains others for this position as directed by management. Fills in for other administrative positions as needed and directed by management. Assists with related special projects as required. Maintains a professional appearance and neat work area.
