Manatee County, FL Looking for Accounting Specialist – Utilities at Bradenton, FL

LOCATION: Utility Accounting, 4410 66th St W., Bradenton

HOURS: Monday – Friday / 8:00am to 5:00pm

Starting salary $21.35

Performs reconciliations of the customer information financials to the Integrated Financial Accounting System (IFAS); ensures accounts receivable, deposits, and un-applied cash are in balance and all utility charges and adjustments are properly reflected on the general ledger and interfaced into IFAS; prepares accurate and timely reports of considerable difficulty.

Reconciles payments received from cashiers, lock box, and third party payment agencies; coordinates investigation of payments to ensure posting to customer accounts and the general ledger.

Compiles statistical and financial data for monthly waste hauler activity and payment.

Compiles statistical data for monthly consumption reporting; analyzes and reports historical and projected rate and charge information.

Prepares requests for journal entries, audit slips, and other transactions to process stop payments, refunds, and accurate payments to vendors; assists with payment processes and monitoring department/section accounts payable and accounts receivable; determines if costs are appropriate based upon Federal, State, Local and contract terms.

May assume duties of the Supervisor – Accounts Control in his/her absence.

Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, management, or related field. Minimum of three (3) years professional fiscal-related experience. Prior experience in a customer service information, billing, or accounting system desired. Prior experience in fiscal program planning desired. Prior lead or supervisory experience desired. Valid Florida driver’s license. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
