Director Sourcing – Global Indirect – Open to candidates across the globe – including Switzerland
Summary
Leads the global sourcing functions for Kennametal’s (KMT) indirect categories, responsible for $400M of annual spend across all global manufacturing plants and various support operations.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining an in-depth knowledge of indirect spend areas, including Capital Equipment, Logistics, Energy, MRO, Temporary Labor, Facilities/Real Estate, Consulting Services.
- Provides leadership, direction, and strategy- translating business priorities into sourcing initiatives that deliver agreed outcomes. Partners with manufacturing to ensure that supplier performance is an enabler of manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Engages with suppliers across the global landscape to leverage best practices on indirect spend categories. Proven experience in developing capital equipment suppliers in best cost regions, with recognition of Kennametal’s precision performance requirements.
- Partners with the Global Sourcing Functional Excellence & Project Management team to ensure that defined best practices & designated tools and procedures are comprehensively deployed across the region and that sourcing projects are flawlessly executed. Use of process tools (e-RFx, sourcing, contracts, auctions, etc.) to deliver annual savings goals.
- Reviewing categories through scorecards (cost/performance), financial forecasting, quarterly business reviews. Publication of relevant market indices and trends impacting indirect cost categories.
- Collaborate with business partners and sourcing regional leads to deliver efficiency, supplier diversity, quality, and any enablement required to achieve the business goals through supplier sourcing and partnering.
- Development of global indirect category KPIs with stakeholders to ensure a stable supply chain while delivering optimum value
- Virtually and physically leads a team of Indirect Commodities Managers
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (RQ) in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering; MBA (PF)
- Experience: 10+ years in Strategic Sourcing (RQ) with 5+ years of Global Strategic Sourcing (PF).
Other preferred skills:
- Broad sourcing experience in capital equipment, including presses, molds, process and automation equipment, and packaging systems
- Developing sourcing strategies to support flexible manufacturing requirements within Kennametal’s global manufacturing network
- Experience with global and regional energy strategies, including sustainable energy management strategies and Environmental Safety & Corporate Governance (ESG) requirements
- Experience with consulting, IT, and professional services categories
- Knowledge of sourcing strategies to support Logistics, Warehousing, and Distribution teams, including transportation, freight consolidation, 3PL requirements
- Proven record of creating and deploying ERM and continuous improvement programs
- Responsible to select and develop top talent for Kennametal’s regional Indirect Strategic Sourcing teams. Ensures the team is focused on driving optimal value across Kennametal’s global indirect spend with a strong customer-service mindset and a bias toward continuous improvement.
- Developing supply/master service agreements for IT, consulting services, capital equipment, tooling, maintenance with competitive mechanisms
- Natural ability to interact positively with internal stakeholders across cultures, regions, and professional disciplines
