Job Title: Production Supervisor

Reports To: Production Manager

Schedules: 1st Shift M- F 7:30am to 4pm; 2nd Shift M- F 4pm- 12:30am

Summary Supervises and coordinates activities of workers, within assigned areas, engaged in operating variety of functions to manufacture products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Compare batch weight to production requirements to ensure meeting the required case counts.
  • Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area.
  • After completing a product ensure that all materials are returned to the storage area and all paperwork is completed.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders and assigns duties.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure production deadlines are met.
  • Builds a strong relationship with the USDA Inspector.
  • Inspects and measures parts and products to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products which fail to meet standards.
  • Ensure line efficiencies are met and previous weeks results are reviewed with Production.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Meet department and company goals related to safety, cost, quality and customer service.
  • Maintains time, employee, and production records.
  • All employees, including all levels of management, are held accountable for obeying site safety and health rules
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises production employees, within assigned areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 2 years of food manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; 1 year of manufacturing supervisory experience.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to cold temperatures. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and extreme heat or extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
