DIRECTOR OF SALES

JOB OVERVIEW

The Director of Sales (DOS) is responsible for total hotel revenues, development of yield strategies and accountable for market performance. This role has the responsibility to achieve optimal occupancy, ADR and RevPar to maximize total revenues while meeting/exceeding hotel profit goals. The DOS must achieve these objectives while providing customers and guests with the highest level of quality service.

DOS conducts research on the competition and supply and demand costs to determine how much their products are worth. This helps them develop reasonable product pricing that fits within the customer’s budget and brings in a great profit.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop proactive sales actions to obtain the hotel’s fair share of revenue in the marketplace.
  • Coordinate all group, transient and meeting room sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue.
  • Design plans and materials for promotions and public relations.
  • Solicit new and repeat guest room and meeting business.
  • Maintain client base of key accounts and meetings.
  • Set, meet and/or exceed revenues, booking goals and within budgeted costs and revenue on a monthly average with the liberty to negotiate as needed on individual functions (within established limits) yet maintaining the overall revenue goals.
  • Identify and negotiate with local corporate accounts, professional sports teams, and business specific to the local market.
  • Proactively make outside sales calls, telemarket to obtain business and entertain clients.
  • Deliver impactful site inspections to book business.
  • Constant monitoring of competition and marketplace in general; must be prepared and able to react under fluctuating market conditions.
  • Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies.
  • Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations.
  • Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
  • Complete coordination of the sales group functions; accurate and timely preparation of detailed sales proposals, contracts and group resumes as necessary to ensure a common quality understanding of what the client is to receive in terms of products and services. Review function contracts prior to distribution to client and hotel staff.
  • Develop a full working knowledge of the operations and policies of the hotel including Sales Food and Beverage Front Office and Reservations.
  • Understand the content reflected in sales agreements and how to negotiate terms therein.
  • Understand and prepare, as needed, weekly activity report to include all financial booking performance and personal call reports for active solicitation performed.
  • As needed, check banquet functions prior to guest arrival and make personal contact with client at the time of function with proper introduction of service staff who will handle the event
  • Contribute to the needs of the hotel as an Executive Committee member

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive knowledge of sales skills and revenue management.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in the state of Georgia.
  • Must possess highly developed verbal & written communication skills.
  • Must have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening probing supporting closing.
  • Shows strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing appropriate sales deployment.
  • Must be proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organization and presentation skills.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession.
  • Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • East Point, GA 30344: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Hotel management: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Hospitality: 2 years (Preferred)
