Summary:
Responsible for functioning with general supervision from the Plant Manager to manage the planning, directing, coordinating and controlling of the bakery production process of the frozen bread dough plant at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements. Achieves these objectives by effectively training and delegating authority to key subordinates in production and shipping/receiving. Establishes specific goals and standards for each area of responsibility, relative to company policies and objectives. Responsible for providing leadership and insuring clear communication of instructions to create understanding. Provides an example of enthusiasm, persistence, integrity and dependability. Resolves conflicts that arise or seeks assistance from upper management.
Essential Tasks (Including but not limited to the following):
1. Coordinates the execution of production schedule based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
2. Responsible for staffing production and shipping/receiving to approved levels with qualified and trained employees. Selects, develops, and recommends supervisory candidates to upper management for approval.
3. Directs the application of plant policies and company policies to the production operations and shipping/receiving in a fair consistent manner.
4. Controls product quality and cost of production through appropriate subordinates.
5. Sets up maintains inventory controls and levels in conformance with company policies and forecasts.
6. Confers with department heads on the application of methods and production standards and adherence to establish production procedures. Recommends changes and modifications in equipment to improve quality and efficiency or customer service. Assist and participates with upper management in new product development.
7. Reviews and approves recommendations of subordinates in personnel matters to hire, transfer, promote, terminate, approve rate change and grant leave of absence. Submits for upper management approval according to company policy.
8. Coaches subordinates in progressive discipline matters. Reviews and investigates incidents involving discipline recommending suspension and/or termination. Coordinates disciplinary actions with the Vice President – Human Resources.
9. Establishes security procedures to protect company and employee property.
10. Maintains and monitors reports and procedures of production activity, accurately and on a timely basis.
11. Constantly inspects operation to established production and safety standards. Monitors preventive maintenance program. Takes appropriate corrective action as needed.
