We’re looking for experienced Solutions Engineers to provide pre and post-sales support for our rapidly-growing customer base. A Solutions Engineer is responsible for the technical relationships with customers and prospects and works internally with sales and product development to identify and communicate solutions to meet customers’ business needs. This person acts as a resource for the sales and customer success teams, our front-line technical support team, and other functional departments within the company.

Pre-Sales Responsibilities
- Partnering with the Corporate Sales team regionally
- Identifying customer business requirements and matching them to product features
- Building joint customer strategies with enterprise sales and field services to encourage product adoption
- Deliver product demonstrations and sales presentations, and lead clients through proof of technology.
- Answering GitHub product questions and helping customers and prospects to take full advantage of the GitHub product
- Answering GitHub technical questions and helping customers integrate GitHub with their existing development tools and workflows
- Building relationships with key decision makers, visiting customers on-site, and serving as a customer’s technical point of contact.
- Educating prospects on product implementation and usage
- Understanding customer environments, including DevOps pipelines, code deployment options, and network infrastructure
- Learning about customers’ successes and challenges, sharing customer feedback within GitHub, and advocating for customer interests
- Maintaining awareness of internal GitHub initiatives and the Source Control Management (SCM) industry.
- Contributing to internal and customer documentation
Post-Sales Responsibilities
- Acting as an intermediary between sales and other technical teams to best meet customer needs
- Communicating customer feedback and perspectives to appropriate teams to be considered in product strategy
- Documenting technical considerations, collecting existing articles, and contributing to internal knowledge bases as a resource for other teams, customers, and partners
- Represent GitHub in person for onsite hackathons, lunch and learns, and other marketing and community events (in accordance with health guidelines)
- Partner with Marketing to enable and support partners on all partner readiness for various campaigns, events, and collateral.
- Documenting technical considerations, collecting existing articles, and contributing to internal knowledge bases as a resource for other teams, customers, and partners
Required Qualifications
- You have a BS (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience in technical sales/solution engineering, software engineering / development, technical consulting or delivery, customer support engineering, product management, system integration project management, or any other technical discipline
- Experience with Source Control Management (SCM) tools and workflows, including Git and GitHub.
- Experience working with and in-depth knowledge of the enterprise Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting the pre-sales process thorough technical sales/solutions engineering or post-sales process through technical consulting
- Ability to articulate the value of DevOps and DevSecOps to external stakeholders through sales calls / presentations, product demonstrations, and other forms of technical documentation and support.
- Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) architecture, tools and workflows andKnowledge of software composition and security analysis, SAST/DAST tooling with the ability to articulate the value of DevSecOps
- Experience working with C-level executives and channel partners
- Willingness to travel 25% of the time
Minimum salary of $69,370 to maximum $183,890.
In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual’s base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
