TITLE: Patient Care Representative
REPORTS TO: Patient Care Representative Supervisor
FUNCTION: Answer main incoming phone lines for the office and serves the patients by greeting and helping them on the phone and scheduling appointments. The Patient Care Representative (PCR) serves as a liaison between caller and medical support staff by routing calls appropriately and tasking messages in the electronic health record.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operates the multi-line telephone system to answer, screen and forward calls in a high-volume phone environment.
2. Optimizes patients’ satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments by telephone.
3. Verify &/or enter all patient demographic information in the computer system. Check for necessary referrals.
4. Comforts patients by anticipating patient’s anxieties; answering patients’ questions.
5. Receives incoming calls from patients and referring clinics and schedule office visits and procedure appointments.
6. Relays messages/tasks via electronic health record, refill requests, etc. to the clinic staff for handling and in turn relay messages from the clinical staff to the patients.
7. Provide information regarding inquiries in a professional manner.
8. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, reporting needed changes.
9. Consistently demonstrates ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary. Organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames.
10. Capable & able to travel and perform job duties at other Practice Sites. Must have reliable transportation.
11. Maintain strict patient confidentiality as mandated by state, local & federal guidelines (HIPAA).
12. Successfully completes all Gastro One training requirements (i.e. OSHA, HIPAA, safety, compliance, etc.).
13. Responsible for following and compliance with all regulatory requirements and/or guidelines. These requirements/guidelines include, but are not limited to: AAAHC standards, OSHA, HIPAA, Federal Fraud and Abuse Laws.
14. Perform other duties as required.
15. Perform all duties following the guidelines set by the policies and
procedures of Gastro One.
JOB EXPOSURE DETERMINATION: Not subject to occupational exposure to blood or body fluids.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school; basic typing and data entry skills required for scheduling on computer system; good communication skills necessary for effective communication in person and over the phone. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Patient Care Supervisor. Does not supervise any employee.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 – $19.64 per hour
