Position Summary
The People Operations Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan. This position will also assist the People Operations team with aspects related to personnel including, but not limited to, performance evaluations, database and record maintenance, and various People Operations projects. The People Operations Benefits Specialist reports to the EVP of People Operations and Culture.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Performs quality checks of benefits-related data.
- Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes.
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
- Enrolls employees with carriers and process life status changes.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
- Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
- Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities.
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment.
- Assists with the open enrollment process.
- Administers the tuition reimbursement program.
- Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
- Host Benefit Orientations for new hires, Open Enrollment, and benefit inquiries.
- Prioritize People Ops concerns and projects and direct team accordingly
- Manage ongoing items including benefits renewal and annual open enrollment, semi-annual employee screenings, annual employee reviews
- Continuously review and analyze internal processes and employment data to identify items that need improvement; Propose and implement changes and improvements
- Assist with all aspects of Leave management.
- Keep open communication with the People Ops Team on company direction, projects, priorities, and any concerns as they come up
- Roll out communications, materials and trainings with Learning & Development and Hiring Managers as needed.
- Work with other departments, as needed, such as Compliance, Licensing, Marketing, Client Relations, and IT.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Comfortable and experienced in handling personal and confidential information.
- Highly organized, self-starting, motivated, and dependable.
- Efficient in time-management and able to effectively lead others.
Education, Training & Experience
- Associate’s degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education.
- Two years’ experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field of study.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
