Job purpose
The IT Support Technician is primarily responsible for working on IT Support trouble tickets. When not answering the IT support line, a support technician will typically be working towards the resolution of all unresolved IT Support trouble tickets. Other duties include computer configurations for new associates, end user technical support, supporting various software products, and occasionally traveling to local or remote office locations to setup computers and troubleshoot issues.
Duties and responsibilities
- Answer the IT support line, respond to IT Support emails and tickets, and resolve pending issues
- Assist in the administration of company e-mail, software applications, break/fix issues
- Setup and create computer and software configurations for associates
- Support phones, and other office equipment, as well as PCs, servers and various other hardware
- Works within Standard Operating Procedures to set up and delete users and related system accounts, as needed
- Manage and maintain IT equipment storage.
- Assist in the creation of end user support documentation and training material
- Participates in the on-call rotation of the IT department
- Occasionally travel to local or remote offices to support their IT needs
Qualifications / Ideal Candidate
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
- Must be proactive, team player, with the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to work with users at all levels of expertise
- Ability to perform remote troubleshooting, while giving clear instructions
- Experienced in Windows OS, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office
- Knowledgeable and practiced at PC/software setups, hardware support, etc.
- Working knowledge of computer peripherals, such as printers and scanners
- Ability to understand general business practices and use a wide range of software and hardware applications
- Experience with Dental software, such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Open Dental, etc.
