Transportation Manager Job Responsibilities
Manage, direct and provide guidance for activities related to routing and tracking of shipments to customers and intracompany
Manage outbound shipments to ensure carrier compliance with agreed freight policies, guidelines, and agreements
Conduct deep-dive analysis of current Transportation/logistics spend. Analyze opportunities to apply leverage, consolidate spend, negotiate better pricing and more favorable contract terms/service levels.
Support sales and customer service with all carrier performance, expediting and tracking needs
Manage internal and external resources of freight audit and payment to ensure accurate timely and efficient processing of transportation expenses.
Advise, support and educate Dayco Global Supply Management team regarding Incoterms and their practical
Conduct Market Research and maintain Market Intelligence in order to pre-select suppliers invited to bid on new contracts. Define selection criteria and lead supplier selection teams in coordination with Operations, Tech Centers and Corporate functions.
Establish targets for improvements in cost, quality, delivery and technical support and ensures the maintenance of performance measurements.
Drive Cost Out Projects (COP’s) to continually reduce purchasing costs and improve value.
Participate in industry/professional organizations and continuing education. Keep current on all transportation/logistics compliance issues and support operational improvements related to trade activity, tariff’s etc.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain related field
7-10 years in Transportation Industry
Proven knowledge of contractual law
Good communication and organizational skills
Ability to make informed business decisions
Must be able to analyze data and think strategically
