IT Technician
Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative (“CMEEC”) is a public power entity that provides wholesale electric services to member-owner municipal electric utilities and participating wholesale customers located in Connecticut. CMEEC was established in 1976 as a publicly directed joint action supply agency, and its member owners currently include six of the seven municipal electric utilities in the state of Connecticut: Norwich Public Utilities, Groton Utilities, Jewett City Department of Public Utilities, Third Taxing District of the City of Norwalk, South Norwalk Electric and Water, and Bozrah Light & Power. CMEEC also provides the wholesale power requirements of the Mohegan Tribal Utility Authority.
CMEEC is looking for a qualified and highly motivated individual to serve as an Information Technology Technician (IT
Technician) to support all functional areas of the organization in alignment with the business objectives. Under direct supervision this position assists with routine IT operations, low level problem resolution of computing and/or communication functions and ensuring the cyber security of information systems. This role performs work in technical support areas, applications development, computer operations, help desk, and data management, as well as assistance on computer related projects as directed.

We are focusing on entry level candidates for this position, but we also welcome experienced applicants.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide help desk, analytical and technical support by performing maintenance, expanding functionality, and improving performance of hardware and software tools used to support CMEEC business functions.
- Provide computer asset inventory through data entry and maintenance of assets including equipment disposal, processing and tracking.
- Define and develop innovative solutions including applications and scripts to automate business processes.
- Assist in the implementation of IT and cyber security policies, procedures, standards and system documentation development and maintenance.
- Assist on various special projects and tasks as well as coordinating meetings.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred; will consider candidates with an Associate degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university plus 2 or more years of experience in a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office software, Microsoft SQL Server database and TSQL language; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics software is preferred.
- Application and script development experience utilizing Visual Studio, VBScript, VBA, WS FTP, HTML; experience with Windows Powershell is preferred.
- Basic troubleshooting skills.
- Basic programming skills.

- A basic understanding of relational database design and management as well as application development.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues with technologies implemented in the organization.

Working Conditions
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand at a desk; use computer keyboard and phone for prolonged periods on a daily basis; and to talk or to hear. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a stressful situation is necessary.
