Located on the southeast Atlantic coast in Brunswick, midway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida, the College of Coastal Georgia is an undergraduate college in the University System of Georgia with an additional outreach through the Camden Center in Kingsland, Georgia. The College provides an affordable and interactive education in the natural beauty and abundant sunshine of Georgia’s Golden Isles, an area noted for world-class golf courses and resorts as well as amazing diversity of maritime habitats, wildlife and sea creatures.
Job Summary
The College of Coastal Georgia seeks qualified applicants for part-time faculty in the Department of Education and Teacher Preparation. This is an applicant pool for teaching courses and/or supervising teacher candidates in P-12 field experiences during the 2021-2022 academic year. Applicants will be reviewed on an as-needed basis and hiring may occur up to the start date of a given semester.
Responsibilities
Part-time faculty will teach courses and/or travel to, supervise, and mentor teacher candidates in P-12 field experiences contingent with the needs of the College. Essential duties include: collaborating with faculty to prepare syllabi that align with course learning outcomes, maintaining office hours, participating in departmental meetings as needed, and submitting attendance and grade reports.
This is considered a Position of Trust.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Terminal degree or a Master’s degree with significant professional experience in elementary and/or middle grades and secondary education.
Other Required Qualifications
- Valid drivers license.
- Background Check /Position of Trust
- MVR
Required Experience
- Successful teaching experience at the P-12 or college level.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in educational foundations, elementary pedagogy and literacy, and/or middle grades and secondary pedagogy and content area methods.
- Teacher candidate field supervision experience.
- Working knowledge of child and adolescent development, standards-based curriculum design, evidence-based and responsive instructional approaches, and classroom assessment.
