Chris-Leef General Agency, Inc. is an Excess and Surplus Lines General Agency using a writing business in 46 states through multiple distribution channels. The Marketing Representative is expected to manage the distribution system in an assigned geographical territory to achieve written premium objectives. Using face to face sales calls and telephone sales calls with individual agencies the Marketing Representative will achieve the written premium objectives by focusing on renewal retention and new business policies. The Marketing Representative is also expected build a distribution system that has the ability to help meet company premium and profit objectives.

Marketing Representative responsibilities:

  • Completes and submits Quarterly Sales activity plans prior to each quarter.
  • Sets quarterly face to face sales call targets. Communicates weekly plans to Chris-Leef along with prior weeks’ activity results through Image Right.
  • Uses telephone calls to set appointments, uncover competitive issues, motivate agency personnel and discuss renewal or new business submissions.
  • Completes daily face to face sales calls with agency personnel for the specific result of retaining renewal business and writing new business accounts submitted to underwriting. Identifies those opportunities in the reporting process.
  • May need to assist accounting in premium collections regarding agencies.
  • Coordinates with the marketing staff in Home Office for flyers, conventions, email marketing or any other planned marketing effort.
  • Recommends sales incentives to Chris-Leef Management team.
  • Trains all assigned agencies on Chris-Leef products, programs, web site and procedural needs.
  • Communicates competitive issues to Home Office.
  • Recommends Solutions regarding distribution system needs.
  • Supports an Underwriting philosophy and communicates effectively with the Home Office.
  • Identifies and creates additional President’s Club agencies.

Marketing Representative skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience (4 years).
  • Excellent negotiation skills. Solution based.
  • Strong decision making skills. Knows it is all about the agency.
  • Self starter and self managed. Does not need to be seen by Home Office.
  • Computer literate and proficient in word and excel. On off computer switch
  • Excellent planning skills. Knows what is needed for the job to be done right.
  • Travel overnight. Will go to St Louis or Tulsa.
  • Working knowledge of multiple distribution systems. Understands agency needs.
  • Excellent Sales skills. Listens, asks appropriate questions, offers solutions, seeks agreement.
  • Excellent planning and reporting skills. Is a good team player.
  • Spends majority of time motivating current Presidents Club agencies, creating more Presidents Club agencies and maintains a list of potential Presidents Club agencies.

Compensation: We need to define a geographical territory. Find out how much agency and direct bill written premium is from those agencies. Determine an appropriate compensation based on current income and expected written premium results.

Uses personal vehicle. Mileage reimbursement. 30,000 to 40,000 annual miles. Mileage log is needed and accompany reimbursement request. Checked back to planned calls and sales call reports done weekly. Must be completed promptly at the end of each month.

Laptop and proper hardware and software to connect to home office provided.

Company Visa for travel expenses (no gas receipts).

Business cards and office supplies provided.

Monday morning contact by lead or Admin to discuss what went well last week and what this week offers. Compare to quarterly plan.

Random calls to agency personnel on an irregular basis after planned calls should have been completed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year
