Cambium Carbon

About Cambium Carbon

Thirty-six million trees fall in U.S. cities each year, more than all the salvageable wood in our national forests and they’re often wasted and sent to landfills! At Cambium Carbon, we use technology to build local wood supply chains – we save fallen trees from landfills by connecting them to local sawyers and millers who can turn them into durable products storing carbon for generations and funding tree planting in communities that need them most. We’re bringing manufacturing back to our cities to dramatically reduce climate impacts and create new green jobs.

We plan to scale into other materials and are focused on being the leading circular economy platform. We are a rapidly growing seed stage company based in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco but support remote and hybrid work. We are proudly funded by industry veterans like MaC Capital, Soma Capital, Joe Tsai (Co-Founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Alibaba), Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, Blue Ivy Ventures and others.

We’re committed to people-first climate solutions and know that the only way we succeed is by honoring the diversity, growth, and ambition of our climate-super team AND our communities.

What You’ll Do

  • 60% – Supplier Research, Outreach, Onboarding
  • 30% – Order Fulfillment

  • 10% – Future Product Feature Brainstorming

Supplier Outreach

  • Research, connect with, and ultimately sell and onboard sawyers, millers, and shops to Traece (Cambium Carbon’s inventory management and eCommerce software).

  • Suggest, build, and iterate on new market opportunities, outreach methods, and community engagement.

  • Build relationships with sawyers, millers, shops, and effectively communicate Cambium Carbon’s mission & vision and their essential role in it.

  • Share examples of and case studies of how Traece partners grow their business and streamline operations with less work so they can focus on doing what they love.

  • Cultivate a funnel of leads to expand customer adoption and credibility in the industry.

  • Actively support onboarding customers onto Traece.

Order Fulfillment

  • Work closely with the Sales team to fulfill orders on projects across the country.

  • Understand client needs and effectively communicate them to our milling partners.

  • Manage efficient shipping processes from a carbon and cost perspective.

Future Product Feature Brainstorming

  • Translate feedback and insights from supplier outreach to outline new feature sets.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team and leadership to discuss growth opportunities to improve the product and adoption.

You’re a Great Candidate if…

  • You know your way around a sawmill and understand the sawing, milling, and fabrication process of wood products up and down the supply chain.

  • You have experience in the construction, building, or design industries.

  • You like interacting with customers on a daily basis.

  • You’ve been banned from big box lumber stores for actually helping customers in the lumber department 😉

  • You’ve always wanted to get paid to talk shop all day!

Your DNA

  • You understand the daily challenges of running and operating a sawmill & small business (ie. fixing the broken saw blade, changing the truck flat, and competing with every Tom, Dick, and Larry out there with a chainsaw all in one day)!
  • You enjoy working with your hands and you also understand the positive impact that technology can have on this industry.
  • You geek out on everything wood!

Your Piece of the Puzzle

As someone who already has experience, expertise, and authority in salvaged urban wood, this role puts you at the center of our product. We’re a technology company who wants to bring updated tools, insights, and opportunities to local businesses across the country. You’ll be responsible for building relationships, trust, and ultimately, improving and building a world-class product based on direct user feedback.

As a member of the Operations team, you will play a critical role in researching potential customers, reaching out to them, onboarding them onto the platform, building and maintaining relationships, coordinating orders for fulfillment, and contributing to the growth and expansion of the product and our community.
