We are currently in search of a passionate individual who thrives on driving software projects to success. From envisioning requirements to executing design, implementation, integration, testing, and documentation, you will be the catalyst for innovation.

In this role you will:

Be responsible for the development of mechanical architecture for new products and provide technical leadership for existing products as needed for biotech products within our Separations business unit. This person will function as a Technical Lead resource in the design and development of highly complex biotech instrumentation. This person will be joining a driven team developing solutions for those who are seeking answers to life s important scientific and healthcare questions.

This role, while advertised in many locations, is based on site in Indianapolis, Indiana. The selected candidate will have the flexibility to work remotely from their home office but will need the ability to regularly commute to the office to meet the needs of development projects.

Ideal candidate:

  • Understands how to design for reliability.

  • Can create cost-effective mechanical architecture given user needs and design inputs.

  • Creative engineer and problem solver with technical experience in the development of biotech products though product conception, definition, design, documentation, release to production, and sustainment.

  • Works closely and collaboratively with other members of the development team in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Shows an understanding of how the product/project meets the needs of the customer and organization.

  • Demonstrated technical leader with an ability to manage multiple priorities, focus efforts, overcome obstacles, and complete key objectives.

  • Understanding and hands on skills with common rapid prototyping methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline.

  • BSME with 5+ years experience or MSME with 3+ years experience in mechanical design and developing products.

It would be a plus if you also possess:.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in motion systems, mechatronics, and documentation

  • Proficiency in using 3D CAD software to design complex assemblies (Solidworks preferred).

  • Experience with rapid prototyping, hands-on skills using common machining tools and 3D printers.

  • Ability to work independently and on cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Biotechnology and medical device industry experience.

  • Direct development experience of complex mechanical products/systems.

  • Experience with SolidWorks modeling of machined, sheet metal, and injection molded parts is desired.

  • Experienced running a CNC and producing CAM programs.

  • Finite Element Analysis relating to dynamic systems, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.

  • Familiar with ISO quality systems related to design control and product release requirements.

  • Knowledge of ASME dimensioning and tolerance standards and audits.

  • Mechanical design, modeling, performance analysis, and tradeoff analysis.

  • Materials and component selection for reliability and chemical compatibility.
