BDR is seeking a Junior Accountant to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will be based in the (Location) National Capital Region (NCR) with the bulk of their duties performed virtually from their home office. However, once it is safe to resume working in an office environment the individual will be expected to work part-time in either the N. Bethesda or Northern Virginia area.

Role Overview
The Junior Accountant will assist the Accounting Department with all things related to Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Banking and Payroll.
Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Gather timesheets and expense reports and generate invoices on various government contracts
- Submit invoices to customers via various government billing systems
- Review bank transactions and update cash receipts journal
- Manage and reconcile accounts receivable and general ledger accounts
Accounts Payable
- Record Invoices to Accounts Payable Module
- Submit Invoice for approval and manage the check payment process timely
- Review Travel Expense Reports and reconcile to Credit Card Statements
- Review bank transactions and update cash disbursement journal
- Reconcile accounts payable and general ledger accounts
Banking
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Assist in Projected Cash Flows
Payroll
- Assist in setting up and update employee master file in accounting systems (e.g. rate change, new/terminated employees, contract workforce, etc.)
- Coordinate with HR personnel to generate payroll processing reports (e.g. bonus, vacation payout, PTO tracking, etc.)
- Apply various State Employment I.D. for new hires in different states
- Reconcile payroll liabilities accounts
Required Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance OR at least 21 credits.
- 3 years’ experience in accounting; accounting experience supporting a U.S. Federal government contractor is highly preferred.
- Proven proficiency in accounting software, i.e., PROCAS, Paychex Flex, etc.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) including MS Teams.
- Must be detail oriented and able to effectively document and communicate details.
- Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills, new client environments, and grow domain expertise.
- Ability to work remotely from home with a high degree of accountability.
In addition, U.S Citizenship is required. Select applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and be able to obtain a government-granted security clearance. Individuals may also be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to criminal history, employment and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
