JOB SUMMARY Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Machines parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders

Sets up, adjusts, or operates basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations

Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines

Measures, examines, or tests completed units to check for defects and ensures conformance to specifications, using precision instruments, such as micrometers.

Expands skills in own work area within an analytical/scientific method or operational process

Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise

Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods with a moderate degree of supervision

Equipment Used:

CNC machines, manual machine tools and overhead cranes

Knowledge/Skills:

Vertical, center machining experience. Lathe experience. Able to read tape measure and schematics. Trained in applicable SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) and work instructions, if any.
