ESSENTIAL TASKS:
All Manufacturing Associates are required to:
- Maintain workplace 5S standards
- Participate in Standard Work sessions
- Report all quality concerns to management
- Follow safety rules, regulations, and procedures
- Participate in the STOP card program
An Associate will perform the summarized jobs listed below.
Rotary Forge Floor Operator
- Assist forge operator in loading material.
- Check billet diameter and ensure material is forged to tolerance.
- Input billet diameter and hammer IDs used into the PMC system.
- Verify billet logs accuracy with mill instructions.
- Assist with hammer changes and chuck jaw gripper changes.
- Perform daily optical pyrometer cross checks.
- Use Oracle to start, signoff, and complete the forge operation(s).
- Ensure the hammer die surface is maintained. Ship out hammers that need repair.
- Perform a daily hammer inventory and maintain the inventory sheet.
- Report product deviations using the EDDR system.
- Ensure paperwork needed for forging is completed and up to date for the floor and the forge operator.
- Empty forge slag hopper
- Assist with wear plate changes when necessary.
Forge Operator (Pulpit)
- Direct and check the work of the charger crane operator to ensure that the proper material is being forged and that productivity is maintained.
- Produce material as called for in the Batch instructions.
- Set up the machine for forging after a hammer change or maintenance.
- Use the PMC system to reschedule work, and forge material with the proper recipe.
- Verify that the PMC data collection system is working. The operator will communicate with the floor and generate manual logs in the event of a system outage.
- Make adjustments as necessary to the forging schedule to meet productivity goals and time limits.
- Report machine faults, alarms or mechanical problems to maintenance for repair.
Charger Crane Operator
- Operate overhead bridge type cab-controlled crane for the lifting, transporting, and positioning of material.
- Use cab controls to operate crane bridge, trolley, hoist, and boom to lift, transport and position ingots or billets and other products.
- Operate service crane utilizing remote and manual controls.
- Work with the Forge Operator to maintain productivity requirements and communicate piece identity.
- Detect and report improper operation, defective equipment and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
Furnace/Heat Treat Operator
- Operate furnace controls.
- Light furnaces.
- Operate service crane and fork truck.
- Use master control.
- Stage material per T.I. OP-052 and forge schedule.
- Coat material per forge schedule.
- Complete furnace logs for material to be loaded into furnaces.
- Load material in furnace per forge schedule.
- Monitor and adjust furnaces as needed per M.I.
- Report and enter all deviations in EDDR system.
- Use wonder ware.
- Use MPT billet tracking system.
Cooling Bed Operator
- Operate cooling bed control panel
- Ensure material is delivered to the next operation in a timely manner.
- Measure bar length and diameter.
- Maintain product identity by visually inspecting all material before it moves outside.
- Band product.
- Operate service crane and fork truck.
- Prepare, label and weigh scrap barrels.
- Assist with emptying forge & saw slag hoppers.
- Change dust hog barrels.
- Report and enter all deviations into the EDDR system.
Saw Operator
- Navigate saw control panel.
- Use master control.
- Use Joe’s Box.
- Check Batch status.
- Complete necessary saw documents such as billet cutting maps and sample cards.
- Measure bar lengths and samples.
- Debur samples.
- Maintain product identity.
- Use Hilti stamp gun.
- Operate service crane and fork truck.
- Prepare, label and weigh scrap barrels.
- Change saw blade and saw cut plate.
- Empty saw slag hopper.
- Report and enter all deviations in EDDR system.
NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:
- Material handling.
- Perform any other duties as required or directed by management.
