Mizzen+Main is currently seeking an experienced financial leader with a proven track record as a Vice President of Finance or equivalent financially responsible position.
This position requires an energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives. We are a digital-first, omnichannel Brand with our finance function playing a critical role in our ability to drive towards and hit our aggressive growth goals.
Our VP of Finance will be a senior member of the executive management team, reporting to the President, and be responsible for all accounting, treasury, costing, and payroll functions. Basic responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, forecasting, planning, costing, meaningful internal controls, and continuous improvement in financial management reporting. There will be involvement in everything from process improvements to IT-related projects as well as cross-departmental initiatives.
The VP of Finance will plan, direct and manage our finance teams including Accounting, Financial Operations, Tax, Audit, design, and maintenance of reporting and the financial control environment. This position will be responsible for compiling financial statements, managing relationships with outside auditors, and overseeing other required reporting, including reporting to the Company’s investors. The VP of Finance has overall administration with developing goals and objectives as well as designing and implementing programs, processes, policies, and
/or procedures for this function. We desire an executive with a “hands-on” approach that requires daily interactions with the President, CMO, and other senior leadership team members. This position is responsible for six direct reports.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounting cycle, including production of financial statements and completion of all required procedures; analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of financial status.
  • Generate timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including Board financial packages, complete with Actual v Budget, and Actual v Prior Period variance explanations and account analysis.
  • Analyze variances and participate in development of corrective actions to address variances as required.
  • Execute and improve accounting processes and activities: monthly closing, revenue tracking, inventory analysis, accounts receivable and payable analysis.
  • Create and maintain sales-level and business-wide financial scorecards, inclusive of Key Performance Indicators within the digital/eCommerce, Retail and Wholesale commercial channels.
  • Work closely with President and senior management team to improve company’s accounting and reporting performance.
  • Review purchase orders and capital expenditure requests, monitor actual capital expenditures for ROI.
  • Prepare annual budgets in tandem with the senior leadership team and recap monthly performance with individual departments including variance explanations with department heads.
  • Manage and comply with multiple country laws as well as local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Work with outside accounting firm to perform annual review or audit of company accounting.
  • Manage the daily cash-flow position of the company and implement a 13-week rolling cash forecast with weekly accuracy lookbacks.
  • Review weekly cashflow with each department head in group settings as well as one-on-one meetings.
  • Have authority to establish credit and collection and purchasing policies and to establish schedules of payment of bills and financial obligations.
  • Manage day-to-day banking and treasury activities, including credit/loan facilities and reporting requirements.
  • Negotiate pay terms with suppliers and customers.
  • Lead AR collection activities.
  • Have proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board pronouncements (FASB) principles.
  • Provide accounting support to sales management in the development and review of significant customer pricing programs.
  • Ensure stable IT systems are in place to support company personnel and operations.
  • Plan and budget upgrades to IT infrastructure.
  • Achieve and maintain compliance with customer-required IT standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration emphasis. CPA or MBA is strongly preferred.
