Position Summary
The position of Network Support Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining voice, data, wireless, and video network systems infrastructure including hardware and software. Perform work specified on assigned work orders/trouble tickets in compliance with industry standards; pulling, splicing, and terminating copper and fiber cable, assisting in the installation and configuration of switches, voice and wireless devices, maintaining documentation of physical communications plant, and troubleshooting and resolving operational performance of network systems infrastructure. This also includes working knowledge of all networked devices, including administration and technical support of production point of sale systems, digital signage, peripherals, network applications, and the network and telecommunications infrastructure.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two or more years’ experience in a network support role and an associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, network and telecommunications or other related technical discipline.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, continual process improvement and customer focus, and motivated self-starter; able to work independently.
- Professional Certification not required; Network related certification preferred.
Major Responsibilities
- Assisting Network Engineer in developing and implementing IT/network plans.
- Managing work and priorities through IT ticketing system and workflows to complete customer requests and projects.
- Installing, configuring and managing network infrastructure hardware devices.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing and switch connectivity issues, including network device configuration and low-level application development.
- Troubleshooting cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords and termination and testing of inside and outside copper cable plant.
- Service provisioning and programming for telecommunications service using Cisco Call Manager and Unity for voicemail, cloud fax, and Teams voice.
- Configure and install network security camera system.
- Manage and maintain campus cable TV distribution systems.
- Perform utility locates related to outside cable plant and maintain and update infrastructure diagrams.
- Complete move, adds, and changes of network infrastructure devices.
- Maintain inventory of network infrastructure equipment.
- Manage digital signage, room schedules, and displays.
- Assist in coverage and management of the OneCard office, providing support for cash registers, door access controls, and creating ID cards.
- Ensures appropriate coverage and support during key times of the year, such as start of term and during weekend events that require network support.
- Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
- Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
- Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation
Salary is $54,500 to $60,500 plus a comprehensive benefits package.
